Spring Festival Holiday Shift Schedule

Bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new—may the Year of the Dragon bring you great fortune and prosperity!

Quick tips for shutdown maintenance

Dear AFMING users, Thank you all for your continuous support and trust in us. As the Spring Festival holiday approaches, proper maintenance and upkeep of your machine tools are crucial to ensuring smooth operation after the break. To help you with equipment care and maintenance, we’d like to offer the following recommendations:

Clean up

1. Iron Scrap Cleanup: Iron filings left to accumulate for too long can easily rust and clump together, significantly affecting the performance of the chip conveyor's telescopic guard. This includes cleaning tasks such as inside the machine tool, within the T-slots on the workbench, inside the chip conveyor, inside the telescopic guard itself, and even inside the coolant tank.

2. Cleaning each filter: Electrical cabinet air conditioners, heat exchanger filter screens/oil-water chiller filter screens/heat sinks for hydraulic stations/guide rail oil filler port filters, and more

Rust-proof

1. Workbench surface and the extended protective cover—apply oil to the exposed surfaces.

2. Lubricate the inside of the spindle taper bore and its end face (remember not to clean the spindle with an air gun, as this could allow contaminants to enter the bearings).

3. Counterweight chain and sprockets (clean and apply grease)

4. Chain-type Chip Conveyor Drive Chain

5. Rust Prevention for Each Tooling

Cutting Fluid Section

1. It is recommended to drain the cutting fluid (water-soluble) and thoroughly clean the tank, as water-soluble cutting fluids can spoil and deteriorate if left for an extended period.

2. Typically, water-soluble cutting fluids are aerobic; however, if air is excluded or oil contaminants form a layer on the surface of the fluid, it can lead to spoilage and degradation of the cutting fluid.

3. Cutting fluids can pollute the environment—please avoid direct discharge.

Air source section

1. Transfer Gas storage tanks, refrigerant dryers, desiccant dryers, and cyclone water separators After draining the moisture from the equipment, empty the water accumulated in the filter tank on the machine tool. Then, repeatedly activate the pneumatic functions on the machine tool to thoroughly remove any remaining moisture from components and pipelines—for example, by loosening and clamping the tool, engaging the machining blow-off system, moving the tool holder up and down, or actuating the four-axis clamping mechanism.

2. Moisture in the air supply can significantly damage air-powered components of machine tools, such as spindles, grating scales, tool-changing cylinders, pneumatic cylinders, and solenoid valves, among others.

Rail section

1. Check the bottom of the lubrication pump for any impurities or signs of layering. If either is present, drain the oil and thoroughly clean both the interior and the oil suction filter screen.

2. For lubrication, we recommend using genuine guide rail oil—absolutely avoid using recycled oil products.

3. Manually pump the oil several times, and move the three-axis system through its full travel range multiple times, ensuring that the guide rail oil evenly coats the screw, guide rails, and other components.

4. Before shutting down, move the three axes to their middle positions, and record the current mechanical coordinates of the three axes—either by taking a photo or logging the values into coordinate systems like G54/G55. This precaution helps prevent the loss of the machine’s origin point during subsequent startup operations due to battery voltage fluctuations.

Post-holiday startup: Important reminders

 01

First, turn on the gas supply and start the machine once the pressure stabilizes.

 02

Pump the oil manually several times.

 03

Immediately stop the machine, check the monitor for any alarms—especially those indicating low battery voltage or loss of the home position. (If such issues occur, note the mechanical coordinates from before the machine was shut down earlier in the year. Manually move all three axes back toward the original reference point, recording the exact values, then replace the battery and reset the home position.)

 04

Remember to warm up the machine before processing.
